FAQ

Questions parents ask

Getting started

Does my child need a phone?

No. Most children use the iPad app, which needs no phone number and no account of their own. Text messages are there for children who already have a phone — or you can have Santa text yours and read it together.

How does the iPad get set up?

You generate a six-character code in your parent app and type it into the iPad once. That pairs the two for the season. Your child never creates an account, picks a password, or enters an email address.

What ages is it for?

Storylines are written for ages 4 to 10, and each one lists its own age range and length so you can match it to your child. Reading text in the kid app is set large and bold for early readers.

Can I set it up for more than one child?

Yes. Each child gets their own storyline, their own conversation with Santa, and their own puzzles and rewards — nothing is shared between them.

What your child sees

How does a storyline work?

You pick a story for your child and Santa tells it one day at a time. Each day brings new messages and unlocks a puzzle; solving it moves the story along and earns stars and badges. Days open on their own schedule, so the story can't be rushed through in one sitting.

Can I write my own messages from Santa?

Yes. Write one any time in the parent app, send it now or schedule it for later. It arrives looking exactly like every other message from Santa — your child can't tell the difference, and that's the point.

Does Santa actually reply when my child writes back?

Yes. Santa answers in character, using what you've told us about your child and where they are in their story. Replies go through the same safety checks as everything else, and you can switch a child to review-first so nothing reaches them until you approve it.

How many messages does my child get?

You set the limit per child — 1, 2, 3, 5 or 10 a day. The storyline's own messages arrive on schedule; if your child writes back, Santa's replies count against that same daily limit.

Safety and privacy

Can I see what Santa is saying to my child?

Yes, always — every message in both directions stays in your dashboard, and it's marked so you can tell a storyline message from one you wrote or one Santa generated. Your child never sees that distinction. Turn on approval mode for a child and nothing sends until you've read it.

What if my child writes something that worries me?

Every message your child sends is checked before Santa ever replies to it. If anything suggests they might be upset or unsafe, it's flagged in your dashboard straight away with a plain-language reason, alongside whatever Santa said back.

What does Santa know about my child?

Only what you choose to tell us: a first name, an age range, and any details you want Santa to remember, like a pet or something they're hoping for. We deliberately never ask for a last name, an address, or a school.

Is there anything to buy inside the kid app?

No. There are no ads, no purchases and no links out of the kid app. Settings and billing sit behind a grown-ups gate that a young child won't get through.

Can I pause it?

Yes, any time, per child — one tap. Nothing sends while a child is paused, including scheduled messages, and resuming picks the story back up where it left off.

Billing

How do I cancel?

One click from your dashboard, any time — no phone call, no email, no retention gauntlet. You'll also get a reminder before any renewal charge, with a cancel link right in that email.

What happens after Christmas?

Each storyline ends on its last day with Santa's final message, and then the North Pole goes quiet until next season. The whole conversation stays in your dashboard, so you can read it back any time. Your subscription renews once a year — we email you 14 days and again 3 days before any charge, and cancelling is one click from the dashboard, no need to contact us.
